What’s the difference between a Hyrox race and Hyrox classes?
A HYROX race and HYROX classes both revolve around the same fitness concept, but they serve different purposes.
HYROX Race
- A competition combining running and functional fitness.
- Consists of 8 rounds of 1 km runs, each followed by a functional workout station (like sled pushes, rowing, burpees, etc.).
- Open to different fitness levels with divisions like Open, Pro, Doubles, and Relay.
- Held as official events in various cities worldwide.
- Requires strategy, endurance, and strength to complete efficiently.
HYROX Classes
- Training designed to help participants prepare for a HYROX race.
- DOES NOT include much running! Running should be done outside of class.
- Focus on building endurance, strength, and technique for race movements.
- Led by certified HYROX coaches.
- Can be part of regular training, even if you’re not competing in a race.
- Help improve work capacity, pacing, and recovery for HYROX-style workouts.
Key Difference
A HYROX race is the actual competition, while HYROX classes are structured workouts that help you train for the race movements (and not much running)—or simply get fitter using the HYROX methodology.
